This past Friday night, a central Florida man was arrested earlier this week with charges of driving under the influence while driving a law mower.
Richard Paschen was driving his red lawn mower when Marion County Sheriff’s Department officers spotted him drinking a beer and mowing the lawn. When questioned if he had been drinking a lot, Paschen replied that he’d had “a pretty good bit” to drink. Paschen also told officers that he had gotten lost while driving the lawn mower. He refused to take a breathalyzer test.
Paschen has a history of driving under the influence charges and now has his license suspended.

A 20-year-old St. Petersburg woman was sentenced to 3 years in prison last week in response to a crash that claimed the life of her boyfriend.
The day before the trial, the young woman spoke to hundreds of students at a local high school through the Safe Teen Driving program, warning them against the dangers of drinking and driving. The victim’s parents expressed wishes that the woman not go to prison because of her remorse and her willingness to change. Despite these pleas, the woman was still sentenced to 3 years.
