A South Florida doctor was charged last month for improperly supplying thousands of prescription drugs to people in Kentucky.
According to patients, Shook performed little or no examination before giving them prescriptions, which he advised them not to take to large pharmacies.
Boyd county police officers searched Dr. Michael R. Shook’s office in Lauderhill Medical Clinic in Oakland Park, Florida and found 1,400 patient files of people with addresses in eastern Kentucky. Kentucky police say that some of the people arrested in Kentucky’s largest-ever drug raid last October were associated with Shook’s office.
According to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the top fifty prescribers of oxycodone are in South Florida. An FBI task force are still investigating others involved in this cross country drug pipeline.

What began as a robbery charge against a Fort Lauderdale man has escalated to a murder charge after his suspected accomplice was struck and killed by a truck. Eddie Cooper, 23, had allegedly been breaking into cars at a movie theater parking lot Thursday night in Boca Raton with his accomplice Earl Storey, 27. The police started chasing the pair when they sideswiped a police cruiser. Officers used tire deflation strips to stop them. That’s when Storey got out of the car and ran across the street where he was struck by an AT&T service truck. He died on the scene.
Now Cooper is charged with Storey’s murder as well as robbery (second-degree felony murder) as well as aggravated assault on police, fleeing from police and burglary. He was held without bond. A felony murder allows prosecutors to charge Cooper with murder because his alleged accomplice was taking part in a crime when he died. It doesn’t matter if Cooper did not have direct involvement in the killing.

The former Florida GOP chairman, Jim Greer, was arrested Wednesday on six counts of felony. The charges include one count of organized crime, one count of money laundering, and four counts of grand theft.
After three months of investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, it has been determined Greer smuggled money designated for his race for chairman for personal uses. Greer formed the company Victory Strategies to collect donations, and with the help of his appointed executive director, Delmar Johnson III, the two agreed to take and split 10 percent of the donations.
“He created that company to hide his involvement…The money was laundered by Greer to fund his personal lifestyle,” stated officials.

According to the Palm Beach Post News, a resident of Boca Raton is suing an alleged real estate broker for running a Ponzi scheme that defrauded 83 investors of $1.8 million.
The fraudulent broker was arrested Wednesday and remained in jail Thursday after the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office charged her with aggravated white-collar crime; organized scheme to defraud greater than $50,000; 23 counts of grand theft over $20,000; three counts of grand theft over $100,000; 30 counts of grand theft; and money laundering.
Investors claim that the fraudulent broker was extraordinarily convincing, largely due to her heavy emphasis on Christianity.
Her daughter attests to her faith, stating that “[my mother] is someone who has never missed church on Sunday. This is a huge blow.”
According to authorities, the phony broker used hundreds of thousands of dollars to operate the Museum of Lifestyle & Fashion History—a store located in the Boynton Beach Mall.
If you or someone you know has been charged with fraud or money laundering, the Boca Raton criminal attorneys of Eric N. Klein & Associates, P.A. may be able to help.
