Two Oscala men were arrested Monday night, both charged with possession of marijuana. A Florida Highway Patrol trooper arrested the men following a traffic stop on Interstate 75.
Cpl. Daniel DeWeese said in his report of the stop that he was in his car by Mile Marker 354 in the southbound lane of I-75 when he saw a vehicle speeding in a construction zone.
DeWeese pulled the vehicle over and the driver, 25 year-old Willie J. Baker, told the officer that his license was suspended. He and his passenger, 26 year-old Adrian L Green, said they were on their way to see a movie.
DeWeese noticed the smell of burnt marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and observed a green leafy substance through the window. DeWeese discovered more than 55 grams of marijuana under a seat, both men denied ownership of the drug.
The two men were arrested and taken to Marion County Jail where they were charged with possession of marijuana.
