A prostitution sweep that spanned multiple counties resulted in the arrest of 55 people.
Operation S.T.O.P., Stop The Online Prostitution, was conducted last week by law enforcement agencies in Orange, Osceola, Marion, Volusia, Sumter, Citrus, and Alachua counties.
According to investigators, detectives made calls to phone numbers advertised online and set a date to meet the person who posted the ad. Detectives went undercover and when the suspect agreed to sex for pay an arrest was made.
In Volusia County, the sting operation was conducted out of a local hotel. Agents leased three rooms at a hotel in East Volusia, and netted six arrests.

A man from Belleview, Florida, is facing drunken driving charges after allegedly riding his lawnmower while drunk.
29-year-old Ron Martin was reportedly under the influence when he and a female passenger, Charlene Mallorey, stole a riding lawnmower and crashed it. Both people fell off the mower when it crashed.
According to a police report, a school bus full of children supposedly saw the accident. The children began laughing at the people who had fallen off the lawnmower. Martin then began banging on the bus window in an alleged attempt to enter the bus and discipline the children for their behavior.
The bus driver claims the lawnmower struck the bus prior to tipping. When police officers responded to the scene, Martin refused a breathalyzer and was taken to Marion County Jail. The officers also claimed that Martin threatened them during the arrest proceedings. He was charged with DUI, threat to a public servant and criminal mischief.
