223 gang members and their associates have been arrested in Florida in the last year.
According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement says Operation Community Shield led to 1,785 arrests in 89 cities nationwide. The arrests were made between Oct. 1, 2008 and Sept. 30, 2009.
Operation Community Shield allowed federal, state and local law enforcement agencies to share information and resources to arrest, prosecute and imprison or deport gang members.
Florida immigration officials say the operation has helped dismantle or disrupt numerous gang and drug trafficking organizations.

Adam Jansinski, the winner of the popular reality T.V. show “Big Brother” was arrested for selling drugs.
According to police Jasinski allegedly attempted to sell 2,000 oxycodone pills to a person wearing a wire. Court papers show that Jasinski flew to Logan Airport in Boston with the drugs hidden in a sock inside his pants. When he handed the pills to the informant he was meeting, authorities moved in and arrested him.
Jasinski reportedly confessed to police officials that he used his $500,000 winnings from the reality show and invested it in drugs. If convicted Jasinski faces up to 20 years in prison, as well as a $1 million fine.

Two Oscala men were arrested Monday night, both charged with possession of marijuana. A Florida Highway Patrol trooper arrested the men following a traffic stop on Interstate 75.
Cpl. Daniel DeWeese said in his report of the stop that he was in his car by Mile Marker 354 in the southbound lane of I-75 when he saw a vehicle speeding in a construction zone.
DeWeese pulled the vehicle over and the driver, 25 year-old Willie J. Baker, told the officer that his license was suspended. He and his passenger, 26 year-old Adrian L Green, said they were on their way to see a movie.
DeWeese noticed the smell of burnt marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and observed a green leafy substance through the window. DeWeese discovered more than 55 grams of marijuana under a seat, both men denied ownership of the drug.
The two men were arrested and taken to Marion County Jail where they were charged with possession of marijuana.

An officer of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man riding a motorcycle without clothes on near Interstate 75. The incident occurred just after midnight when J. Dante Krauss exited the Interstate at Highway 40.
The officer pulled the man over for running a red light. Upon closer inspection the officer confirmed the man was nude. He was fully cooperative with police.
Krauss admitted he had been drinking, and was unable to provide information on where he was coming from. He informed the officer that the last thing he remembered was going to Hooters.
Officers reported that Krauss smelled like alcohol and appeared intoxicated. Krauss was also unsure of why he was not wearing clothes at the time of his arrest. He was arrested for DUI after he registered a BAC of .178%.
